Family holiday
Great location close to the beach and walking distance to restaurants and shops. Entertainment was good in the evening and drinks prices reasonable. lady on reception gave me daughter a room next door to myself and husband which we appreciated very much
The way you had to bring your room card for breakfast each morning or go back for it. People had best tables reserved each morning so far away ones at the back were only available. Bit old fashioned way of running the breakfast plus the hotel was quite old fashioned. It was more suited to over 60s which I already knew about and suited us as we are within that age group. Entertainment started 9.30 and finished at 11 then the room cleared very quickly.

It was a nice stay with nice beaches around
It was a good location, directly on the beach, the food was good, the music was good too, the people were nice.
The cleaning in the room could be better, there was no shampoo and conditioner, the beach towels were not changed during the 7 days we spent there. The wifi was very poor and the pool should have been warmer, for september it was really cold.

Nice hotel but wouldn't return
The hotel is clean and comfortable. The restaurant has a variety of food on offer. I messaged ahead to ensure they could cater for my husband who is Celiac. Most days this was okay, but on one occasion they slipped up big time, with no allergy label on the pasta. I queried it with kitchen staff and they confirmed the dish did contain gluten (you can have gf pasta, hence my query) this made my husband extremely wary that the food he had been eating and choosing may have contained gluten. They have a small outdoor pool with sun loungers and the rule is no reserved beds (which is great) if a towel remains on a bed unattended for 30 mins you are informed to remove the towel. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The bathroom has shower gel (no shampoo or other toiletries other than a small bar of soap) there is a hairdryer, tea/coffee facilities, safe and mini fridge which has a bottle of water left for us (don't drink the tap water it is vile!)
In the restaurant you are to reserve a table which, in theory, is yours for the duration of your stay. This system didn't work for us, the first few days it seemed okay, but we came to our table one morning another couple were sitting there (the RESERVADO label had been removed) we spoke to Renata the restaurant manager who had no idea why this had been removed. We chose another table and asked for this to be reserved for the rest of our stay. The next 2 days the table has been used prior to our attendance in the restaurant and therefore hadn't been made up for our reservation. I know it seems a 'picky' thing to mention, but why have a reservation system if you allow others to take the table? We also felt like we were the youngest guests in the hotel(I'm 53), predominantly the age range I would say is over 70 and sitting in the lounge area after dinner waiting for the act to come on the stage, felt like we were sitting in a nursing home. We only stayed to finish our drinks as the act was awful (Freddy Mercury sing-a- like). The location of the hotel is NOT Cala d'Or, it is Cala Egos - a totally different resort. Cala d'Or can be reached by bus or taxi. To walk is around 40 mins. The beach is a couple of minutes walk down a little hill to the cove. It is small, you can book beds and parasols at reception and save yourself a couple of euros. The beds are not maintained, many were broken and we arrived one day and there were literally 2 beds left, so beware about booking and paying at the hotel for them as you may arrive and there aren't any left! The hotel feels a little dated, lots of brown furniture and 'chinzy' fabrics. It's rated 4 stars, I'd say 2-3 at best having stayed at much more modern hotels with only a 3 star rating. One other thing that 'urked' me, it was our Pearl Wedding Anniversary and I advised the hotel of this ahead of our visit.
